[Overview]


As part of the 茶, चाय, Tea (Chá, Chai, Tea) exhibition:

Song of Communitea poem, co-written by Jenny Lau and the ESEA community

during the Communitea sessions led by Jenny Lau in April 2024,

over a series of conversations on the prompt:

‘What does a cup of tea hold for you?’


The result is this poem, modelled on Lu Tong’s 9th century composition

‘Song of Tea’, also known as ‘Seven Bowls of Tea’


Illustration and motion created to visualise the poem in an animated video.

The themes of the art direction is to reflect the flow and calm energy of tea and the poem itself.

Creating visual aids discussed in the poem, bringing stories to life where tea is present.


The poem was also adapted to print form to be presented

on display during the Tea exhibition until July 2024.
